Kate went into labour around 6am on April 23, 2018 – and the baby, weighing 8lbs 7oz, was born at 11.01am.
The baby boy is now fifth in line to the throne, meaning Prince Andrew now drops down to sixth in the line of succession.
The new prince of Cambridge is the heaviest baby born to an heir in over 100 years.
Kate Middleton gave birth to her third child, a baby boy, on April 23 in St Mary’s Hospital
Prince William and Kate Middleton stepped out onto the steps of the Lindo wing with their newborn for a photocall, and now it has been revealed what William and Kate said to each other outside St Mary’s Hospital.
The Duchess of Cambridge was wearing a dress by Jenny Packham, whose outfits she wore the first two times she gave birth.
A lip reader told the Mirror what the royal couple said to one another as the world’s media were snapping shots of the young prince.
The exchange began when William asked his wife if she was OK with holding the baby: ‘Are you OK with him?’ to which Kate replied, ‘Yes’.
The couple then spotted someone they recognised in the crowd and William said: ‘Look, there he is. Over there,’ as they began to wave to the left.
‘Let’s just wave over there,’ Kate said and they began to wave in the right direction.
However, Kate began to be concerned about the drop in the temperature and the couple decide to go back into the hospital.
‘Look he is there,’ Kate said as they say as they continued to wave. ‘It’s a bit windy. He might get cold. Let’s go now,’ to which William replied, ‘Sure’.
On the way into the car, Prince William said the public would find out the name of the baby soon. ‘You’ll find out soon!’ he said with a wave, before joking that he and his wife would have ‘Thrice worry now!’
It seems that the royal couple will be doing things differently the third time around, after the Duchess of Cambridge’s aides confirmed that Kate would only return to official duties in the autumn, much later than the six week period after George’s birth, and two-months following Charlotte’s.
The royal baby has not yet been named, however the official announcement is expected to take place in the next couple of days.
