Taylor Swift NOT Warned By AMAs Producers About Getting Political During Awards, Despite Report
A new report alleging Taylor Swift has been warned by the producers of the American Music Awards to not get too political during her performance on Tuesday’s awards is completely made-up. Gossip Cop can exclusively correct this claim, which seems to have been manufactured after Swift shared, in a rare instance, her political support for Phil Bredesen, a democrat running for senator in her adopted home state of Tennessee. And while it was noteworthy that Swift endorsed a candidate, the AMAs’ producers have not told her to keep quiet.
On Monday, Swift voiced her opposition on Instagram to Bredesen’s rival, Marsha Blackburn, a republican congresswoman who’s seeking the same seat in the November midterm elections. The superstar singer stated in her post that while ideally she would “like to continue voting for women in office,” she cannot support Blackburn, who she feels is not “willing to fight for [the] dignity of ALL Americans,” regardless of the gender, sexual orientation, or skin color. Swift said Blackburn’s record while in Congress “appalls” her since the representative “voted against equal pay for women” and legislation “to protect women from domestic violence, stalking, and date rape.” She also took issue with the republican candidate’s views on LGBTQ rights.
As a result of those remarks, maintains RadarOnline, Swift has been “warned” about uttering additional “controversial statements.” “Producers at [the] AMA[s] have asked Taylor Swift to NOT get political,” alleges a so-called “source.” The same supposed tipster adds how the American Music Awards are for celebrating “music and entertainment and unlike the Grammy awards they do not like political messages or speeches.” Actually, the Grammys is also about music and entertainment and doesn’t encourage that either.
The often discredited website then takes how Swift has separately increased her personal security, and falsely tied it to her latest Instagram post. A second purported”source” contends Swift is more open to commenting on politics now that she’s made her homes and cars “bulletproof.” The truth is Swift’s added security has nothing to do with politics and everything to do with her having obsessed fans and stalkers.
Just a few weeks ago, Swift obtained a restraining order against a stalker who threatened to “rape” and “kill” her. And in April alone, an intruder broke into a New York apartment owned by Swift, while out West that same month one man was arrested for trespassing at her Beverly Hill mansion when he tried to scale the home’s walls, while another was caught there with black gloves, a knife and live ammunition. None of those frightening incidents or the many others she’s had to endure during her career have anything to do with political views, which she noted on Instagram, “I’ve been reluctant to publicly voice.”
Regardless, Gossip Cop checked in with a Swift confidante, who assures us RadarOnline’s story about her being told to not talk politics at the AMAs is simply “false.” Actually, Gossip Cop is not entirely surprised the article is untrue. We recently busted the blog for wrongly maintaining Swift and boyfriend Joe Alwyn were going to split over her doing the movie adaptation of Cats. The outlet asserted the “grueling filming schedule” was going to cause the couple to break up, seemingly forgetting how Alwyn regularly goes off to shoot movies, while Swift’s often on the road performing. Much like that report, the latest about her being “warned” by the AMAs’ producers to not get political is similarly inaccurate.
